Affiliate terms
The rules for the Harness Lab affiliate program: commission, the hold, payouts, what is not allowed and how to disclose.
Accepting these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and [COMPANY NAME] for the Harness Lab affiliate program. You accept them when you apply. We approve each application by hand and may decline it without giving a reason. They are in addition to the terms of use and the privacy page.
Commission
You earn 40% of what a referred customer's first payment collected on a monthly plan, and 30% on an annual plan. The amount is counted after any discount and without tax. Only the first payment earns commission. Renewals, upgrades, downgrades and Flex credit packs do not. Rates are set when the customer checks out and stay as they were; we may change the rates for later checkouts.
Who counts as your referral
A visitor who opens your link is remembered for 30 days. Only a new customer, with no subscription before, can be attached to you, and a person is attached to the first affiliate whose link they used. You cannot refer yourself: the same account, or the same email address, is refused. We decide in doubtful cases.
The hold and getting paid
A commission waits 30 days before it can be paid, so that refunds and chargebacks can be settled. The minimum payout is $50: when your available balance reaches it we pay it by PayPal, Interac e-Transfer or bank wire, in batches, about once a month. A smaller balance waits for the next batch. Payouts are in US dollars. [OWNER: confirm the payout day and who pays the transfer fees.] Bank details for a wire are kept for payouts only and are never shown back in full.
Refunds, chargebacks and clawbacks
If a customer is refunded, your commission is reduced by the same share. A chargeback cancels it. If we have already paid that commission, the amount is taken from your next payout, and if there is none, we may ask you to return it.
What you may not do
- Refer yourself, or create accounts or payments of your own to earn commission.
- Send spam: unrequested email or messages, or posts in places that forbid links.
- Bid on the words “Harness Lab” or “harnesslab” in paid search, or register look-alike names or domains.
- Say anything false about the service, the research or the prices, or claim that we back you.
- Post your link on coupon or discount-code sites. [OWNER: keep or remove this point.]
We may reject any commission that comes from fraud or a breach of these terms, pause or remove an affiliate at once, and keep money that is not yet paid out.
Disclosure: say that it is a paid link
You must tell your audience, clearly and conspicuously, that you earn from your link, wherever the link appears. Use words such as “Ad”, “paid link” or “I earn a commission if you subscribe” next to the link, and say it out loud in a video or podcast. A hashtag such as #affiliate alone is not enough. The rules in the United States (the Federal Trade Commission) and in Canada (the Competition Bureau) expect this, and so do we. We may ask you to fix a post, and we may remove you if you do not.
Taxes and your details
You are responsible for the taxes on what you earn. Before the first payout we may ask for a tax form (for example a W-9 for people in the United States, or a W-8BEN or the local equivalent elsewhere), and we report payouts where the law asks us to. [OWNER: confirm the forms and thresholds with your accountant.]
What you can see, and what we keep
You see your link, clicks, sign-ups, customers and earnings. Customer email addresses are always masked. We keep your name, email, payout method and details, and your sales and payouts, to run the program and pay you. Payout details are visible to the owners of the service only. See the privacy page.
Changes and ending
We may change these terms or the program and will say so on this page and in the app. You may stop at any time. We may end the program or your place in it, and we will pay what you have earned and is payable. Questions: [CONTACT EMAIL]. The law of [COUNTRY] applies. Last updated: [DATE].
